Borella grenade incident Arrested Doctor responsible for two similar acts

  • It  is yet to be ascertained as to how these individuals secured these  bombs and therefore, further investigations are in progress

The retired doctor from Piliyandala who was arrested in connection with the incident of a hand grenade recovered from All Saints’ Church premises in Borella recently, has been responsible for similar acts at a private hospital in Narahenpita and the Bellanwila temple, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Retired Major General Jagath Alwis said.  

In a video clip released to the press, he said that the doctor had got another person who was arrested from Embilipitiya, to plant the bombs inside these places. The video shows Mr. Alwis flanked by IGP C.D. Wickramaratne and Senior DIG, Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon.   


“However, it is yet to be ascertained as to how these individuals secured these bombs and therefore, further investigations are in progress,” he said.   


The retired doctor was arrested after information about him was revealed during a lengthy interrogation of the suspect arrested in Embilipitiya.
