Actress arrested and released on police bail after road accident

• The injured person was admitted to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital​

Former UNP Parliamentarian actress Upeksha Swarnamali was arrested on Sunday night on suspicion of causing a road accident. at Nugawela, Kandy.

Police said the car driven by her had collided head-on with a motorcycle near the Nugawela Divisional Secretariat in Katugastota on Kurunegala – Kandy highway causing injuries to the rider. The 18-year-old injured person was admitted to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.

The suspect was arrested and released on police bail to be produced in court last morning. Acting OIC of the Katugastota Police Chief Inspector Senaratne is conducting investigations.
