Supreme Court Judge CC approves appointment of Yasantha Kodagoda

The Constitutional Council yesterday unanimously approved the nomination of Appeal Court President Yasantha Kodagoda as a Supreme Court Judge, the Speaker’s office said yesterday.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had recommended his appointment earlier this month.   

Mr. Kodagoda will fill the vacancy created by Supreme Court Judge Prasanna Jayawardene who passed away last year.   

He was appointed as President of Court of Appeal in March last year.    Meanwhile, the CC has also approved the appointment of Justice A.H.M.D Nawaz as the President of Court of Appeal.
