The police requested the public not to get involved in any activities likely to sabotage the fuel transportation system in the country as it would in turn affect the supply chain, senior police spokesperson and SDIG Ajith Rohana said.

He told the media that certain incidents which were reported yesterday that were likely to harm the fuel carrying bowsers, and that some of those were damaged and vandalised.

It was reported that some bowsers were held captive by certain elements, he said.

However, the respective authorities have informed us that fuel transportation will be done as usual from today, the senior DIG said.

Therefore, the police requested the public not to get involved in such activities and said the free movement of fuel bowsers should be allowed to ensure a smooth run of the supply chain across the country, the spokesman said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
