Rambukkana incident: Kegalle SSP, Rambukkana SP, OIC transferred

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kegalle, the Superintendent of Police of the Rambukkana Division and the Rambukkana OIC have been transferred with immediate effect, police said.

They said the transfers have been made in order to allow aggrieved parties and witnesses in the incident to participate in independent investigations and court proceedings.

Meanwhile, investigation into the Rambukkana incident in which a protester was shot dead and several others were injured was handed over to the CID by the IGP. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
