Police issue warning over Hartal movement

Police said Intelligence has alerted them that certain groups have threatened those who did not want to join the Hartal and forced them not to open their business outlets.

Senior Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said that law will be strictly applied against those who engage in such sabotage.

He said the police respect the rights granted to the people through the Constitution to engage in protests and Hartal in a peaceful manner.

The Police urged Trade Unions, Student Movement groups and other organizations to engage in such activities without causing inconvenience to others and adhere to the law of the land.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
