‘Pas Anura’ and ‘Bole’ arrested over assault on PC

Two suspects were arrested by the Akmeemana Police last night on charges of attempted murder and assault of a police constable.

A police constable attached to the Bentota Police Station was injured in the assault on April 11 at Akmeemana in Bentota. The constable is currently undergoing treatment at the Karapitiya Hospital, police said.

The Akmeemana Police launched an investigation into the incident and arrested the suspects in Nugaduwa area.

The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Anura Nishantha alias, ' Pas Anura' and 36-year-old Asanka Jeewantha, alias 'Bole".

The suspects, residents of Galle and Pinnaduwa, were remanded till May 2 after produced before the Galle Magistrate yesterday. (DS)
