Over 100mm rain forecast for five provinces today: Met. Dept.

The Metrological Department today announced that there is a possibility of heavy rains of more than 100 mm in five provinces and may scatter to the other parts of the island as well.

Some areas in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-Central, and North-Western provinces will receive 100 mm of rain, according to forecast.

Meanwhile, showers of more than 50 mm could be expected in the other areas during the day.

Hence, the public are advised to be vigilant and safeguard themselves against squall and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
