No fuel price revision in next few days: Minister

Energy and Power Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that there will be no revision in the fuel prices in the next few days.

He also said that he did not expect to discuss a price revision until for another two weeks.

"We are discussing to bring the fuel prices of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Lanka IOC (LIOC) to a parallel rate. Therefore, a proposal will be handed over to the cabinet in this regard," he said.

A transparent fuel price revision is to be introduced, which will affect the prices of both CPC and LIOC according to the dollar market without leaving the burden on people's shoulders, he said.

The Minister also cautioned people not to be misled by false information circulating on social media and urged them to adhere to the Ministry's official statements. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
