No decision yet to increase electricity bill: Minister

Considering the rumours spreading in social media, power and energy minister Kanchana Wijesekera said there is no decision has been made as yet to increase the electricity bill upon the request.

However, rumours are spreading in social media that the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has granted approval to up  the consumption charges.

While positing a Twitter message today, the Minister said that the proposed tariff revisions by CEB have been approved by PUCSL which is not for the first time. 

They also said the requests have been made on numerous occasions since 2015. He added that the cabinet has the authority to implement, revise or reject the proposal. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
