Power and Minister Kanchana Wijesekera today said that new guidelines for fuel transportation was issued to prevent fresh fuel scarcity.
Accordingly, the Ministry is to increase the capacity and the frequency of the fuel carried by the railway fuel transport wagons from 40% to 100% to the rural depots.
He has advised to cut short the new licence issuing process expeditiously to one week from one month.
Allocating separate fuel distribution terminals for bowsers owned by filling stations and to give them priority trips to other fuel stations.
Annul the operation licence of the transporters who fail to report for duties in the next two days and to take legal action and cancel the licence of the individuals who obstruct others who volunteer to come forward to fuel distribution work.
A decision was taken to increase the number of government owned bowsers and to make necessary amendments to the augmented private vehicles under a fixed price formula and to provide them with the required protection.
He advised to conduct 24-hour monitoring operations to deliver fuel from the terminals to meet the requirements. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
