Three SriLankan flights and Qatar Airways flight which scheduled to arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), were diverted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) this evening due to adverse weather conditions, MRIA manager Upul Kalansuriya said.

He said the three SriLankan flights UL365, UL303 and UL315 had arrived from Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur while Qatar Airways flight QR654 arrived from Doha.

The BIA Duty Manager said there was no clear view of the runway to land aircraft at the airport.

"However, no one was allowed to disembark from the flight. The flights were landed at MRIA at about 5.45 p.m and the flights will return as soon as the weather condition improves at BIA,” Mr. Kalansuriya said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
