Ensure general public not disturbed during protests: Prasanna tells Ministry Secy.

Public Security Minister Prasanna Ranatunge has instructed the Ministry Secretary to take steps to ensure the normal life of the general public is not disrupted during protests and demonstrations.

The Minister in a letter to the Ministry Secretary directed to take steps to ensure smooth operation of ambulances, school vans and buses, public transport, staff transport, vehicles transporting tourists and distributing essential goods and services during protests.

The Minister said civil organisations have informed him that normal life of people has been disrupted due to the protest campaigns in the country.

He has instructed the Secretary to advise all relevant officials to mediate and discuss with protestors and ensure uninterrupted flow of vehicular traffic through the protest areas.
