Container freight rates up by 65%

The All Ceylon Container Carrier Owners' Association (ACCCOA) has increased the import and export container shipping charge by 65%.

They said the decision was taken considering the price increase of vehicle spare parts and lubricants following the colossal depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar and the recent diesel price hike.

With the increase in the price and the shortage of fuel, we have come to a situation where we are unable to continue with our services.

Taking everything into account, the ACCCOA has decided to raise the import and export container shipping charges by 65 percent. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
