China willing to assist SL with IMF

As a major shareholder of the IMF, China is willing to play an active role in encouraging the IMF to positively consider Sri Lanka's difficulties and properly reach an agreement as soon as possible, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong told Finance Minister Ali Sabry today.

He further spoke of the recent fruitful telephone conversation between the two Premiers of China and Sri Lanka.

In reference to the request on restructuring bilateral debt, Ambassador Zhenhong stated that China will actively support discussions with the relevant financial institutions and departments to resolve maturing debts issues.
