Cash allowance for identified low income families from May

The government will provide special cash allowance as relief to identified low income families who are distressed due to the current economic crisis, for three months from May to July.

Low income families entitled to Samurdhi, such as the elderly, kidney patients, and those suffering from disabilities, have been severely affected by the current economic crisis in the country. 

The Government has identified the need for immediate relief to low-income families entitled to Samurdhi on the waiting list. 

Accordingly, the Cabinet approved to provide special cash allowance from May to July under Contingent Emergency Response Component in projects funded by the World Bank Group. (DSB)
