The Bowser Tanker Owners Associations of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (LIOC) claimed today that fuel transportation in the country will come to normal from Monday (18).

The associations claimed that most of the bowser drives had gone on vacation in view of the new year.

The CPC bowser association claimed that their bowser operators had gone on a new year vacation and the association had requested that they report to work.

Meanwhile, the CPC Chairman yesterday requested all bowser operators attached to the CPC to report to work to provide a continuous fuel supply in the country.

However, there was a delay in the delivery of fuel in the country because bowser operators and CPC employees were on New Year's vacation.

The CPC chairman yesterday confirmed that sufficient fuel stocks are available at CPC storages. Therefore, the bowser owners need to take their bowsers to relevant depots and terminals to streamline the distribution.

Furthermore, the CPC bowser owners claimed that they had summoned them to work and that 25% of the operators were involved in fuel distribution. There is a shortage of fuel delivery today in the country. The 100 per cent fuel distribution will take place on Monday after all the operators report to work.

Meanwhile, the LIOC bowsers' association claimed that there would be no bowsers engaged in fuel distribution until Monday. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
