40% price increase in 60 medicines An extraordinary gazette notification was issued increasing the maximum retail prices of 60 medicines by 40% from the current prices with effect from yesterday.

The gazette notification was issued by the health minister.

Accordingly, the price of most common medicines such as paracetamol tablets (500mg by Rs.4.16), azithromycin tablets (250mg by Rs.88.91), aspirin tablets (75mg by Rs.7.08), metformin tablets (500mg by Rs.9.34) and salbutamol capsule (200mcg by Rs. 9.45) have been increased.
