Some 19 of the 22-Group of young Diyawanna Pohottuwa members had reportedly taken a highly important decision about the party’s candidate at the upcoming big poll.
Seven to eight of them had first called on the young leader of the group and apprised him of their decision.
Later, the entire 19-member group had called on a prominent character, who has been unofficially named as the party candidate and informed him of the decision they had collectively taken. While conveying their decision, these members had explained that the victory at the coming poll was a must for them for they were not prepared to continue to remain confined to the opposition.
The young leader had later expressed his displeasure at the group calling on the unofficial big poll candidate without his knowledge.
The group had then told the young leader: “Sorry. You too may throw in your lot with us!”
The young leader made no response, they say.
