After consulting the Attorney General (AG), Lands and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Gayantha Karunatilaka will include amendments proposed by President Maithripala Sirisena to State Lands Special Provisions Bill during the committee stage, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said yesterday.
It refuted allegations that the proposed agreement between the government and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) did not have provision under which lands would be transferred to any multinational company.
It said this with regard to a statement made by SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara that, according to the agreement, the State Lands Special Provisions Bill included provisions under which lands could be transferred to foreign companies.
