An unidentified group had shot at the house of the chairman of the Galenbindunawewa Pradeshiya Sabha J.M. Rathnayake in Padikaramaduwa on Monday night, said the Galenbindunawewa police. The shooting had caused slight damages to a wall of the house and the double cab belonging to the Pradeshiya Sabha.
When inquired from the chairman he said that while he was sleeping he heard the sound of gun shots. Two shots had hit the wall of the house while another three shots had hit the vehicle causing slight damages to it. It is suspected that the firing had taken place from the road opposite the house. The residents had seen a motorcycle and a vehicle parked alongside the road. Rathnayake said that he cannot suspect anyone but had lodged a complaint at the police station.
The Galenbindunawewa police are conducting further investigations.
