The Election Commission will have a special meeting today with health experts and the police to discuss modalities for the arrangement of voting facilities for those at quarantine centres or under self-quarantine, an official said.
The Commission’s Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya told Daily Mirror that his office would observe the country’s situation closely and decide on steps to be taken. “We came across a COVID-19 cluster after we declared August 5 as the day of polling,” he said.
Earlier, Mr. Deshapriya said his office was mulling the arrangement of mobile polling centres for the benefit of those under quarantine.
