Roads, Highways, Ports and Shipping Minister Johnston Fernando yesterday instructed officials attached to the ‘Maga Neguma’ project to repair and recommission road construction equipment, vehicles and other machinery currently not in running condition.
He gave these instructions when he inspected the Maga Neguma office complex in Peliyagoda yesterday.
The minister observed vehicles and machinery that had been out of commission for a long period of time.
“Over the past few years these machinery have not been deployed in any project and thus most of it have undergone corrosion,” he said.
The Minster instructed relevant officials to take immediate action to protect these valuable national assets and advised to inventorise the machinery and vehicles in the yard during the process of repairing and to clear the site of debris.
