Currently, more than 75% of Sri Lanka’s tea produce by the Tea Small Holders. Balance (which is about 25%) produce by RPC managed plantations. Tea Small Holding sector has shown a viable business model which has less burden to tax payers. Certainly, those plantations workers are poorly paid and exploited for the last century. Why don’t we make those plantation workers as tea small holders? This will improve their living standard. Please give them a break.
