Discussions were held by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today with the CBSL and other key stakeholders to settle the outstanding payments that are due to relevant companies for fuel supply.
In a statement to the media, President Media Division said the CBSL Governor has agreed to pay the outstanding payments due to the relevant companies for the fuel supply with a plan.
President Rajapaksa has instructed officials to take immediate action to import fuel using the existing funds available until issues are ironed out.
Funds to restore fuel supply will be provided by the CBSL and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Accordingly, discussions will be held with the relevant companies to obtain fuel within a certain grace period if fuel is not made available as per the letter of credit (LC) opening procedure followed so far, PMD said.
