The total number of frontline workers who were administered the COVISHIELD vaccine surpassed the 100,000 mark today.
The Epidemiology Unit said a total of 23,217 individuals including healthcare officials were inoculated today as at 8.00 pm this evening.
Accordingly, the total number of frontline workers to have been vaccinated stands at 118,767.
The vaccination programme in the county commenced on January 29.
Initially, the vaccination programme was carried out at six hospitals in Colombo, whereas now the programme covers the entire country.
It was reported that the Government aims to complete inoculation of 250,000 total frontline workers under the first phase of the vaccination programme. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
