Young woman receiving treatment due to gas cylinder explosion, dies

A 19-year-old married woman who was receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo after being seriously injured by a gas cylinder explosion at a house at Welikanda in Polonnaruwa, had died yesterday evening (25).

Police said the deceased has been identified as Ayesha Kumuduni, a resident of Sandunpitiya, Welikanda. 

Investigations have revealed that the gas cylinder had exploded when she tried to light it with a match on November 13.

No one else was at home at the time of the incident and neighbors rushed her to the Welikanda Hospital following the incident.

 

 

The residents have lodged a complaint with the Welikanda Police  in this regard.

The father of the deceased claimed that this incident had occured after a recently brought gas cylinder had exploded.

He urged relevant authorities conduct a special inquiry into the matter.(Nimal Jayarathna)
