The ongoing COVID-19 vaccination programme launched by the Government, will collapse soon, if no proper mechanism is executed, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) said.
GMOA General Committee Member Dr. Prasad Kolabage told the media that the COVISHIELD vaccination programme was introduced recently to continue it without any issue.
"Following a policy decision, the vaccination programme commenced.
However, certain groups had gone against the policy decisions and started vaccinating selected personnel," he said.
"Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID-19 Disease Control Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle also said the vaccination programme had gone against the procedures and even the Ministry's administration," Dr. Kolabage said.
The vaccination programme is now causing inconvenience to the public and the government is currently losing people's trust, he said.
Moreover, he said certain individuals are suspected of over-vaccinating them under a certain procedure.
Therefore, the GMOA requests the Health Ministry to implement the vaccination programme correctly and do not let external forces to intervene. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

This is Srilanka , so no wonder for no mechanism.

Yes no one knows whether govt has any proper mechanism to carry out the vaccination. People are getting confused and crowded at all centres. Hence there is a big risk for those awaiting in long queues without following the guidelines and also exposed to get infected at these centres.

Vaccinate the elderly sick and essential workers first.

Unfortunately that is a sensible suggestion ...and will not have occurred to those in power.,who do not use logic or common sense

Record the inappropriate que jumping and telecast over the TV channels. Que jumping is not a new practice in Sri Lanka.

Yes all are confused but I doubt the GMOA has a solution other than politicising everything and doing bidding fir politicians and not for country.
Ranaweera Tuesday, 02 March 2021 08:38 AM
How can it collapse when vaccines are given to people every day. GMOA is trying to take political advantage by exaggerating the incidents.
