It was decided at the special cabinet meeting today to appoint a subcommittee to study on the salary anomalies of public servants and to submit a report on the matter, informed government sources said.
Sources said the committee is expected to study and identify salary anomalies of public servants in different sectors and to recommend ways and means to resolve the issues.
The committee comprises of ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Vajira Abeywardene, Dr Rajitha Senaratne, Arujna Ranatunga and State Minister Eran Wickramaratne.
This decision comes after a spate of strikes, which crippled certain sectors during the last few days. (Yohan Perera)
