Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene summoned a special consultative committee tomorrow to discuss the gas cylinder explosions while appointment of a special select committee is also on the cards.
Speaker Abeywardene ordered a special consultative committee to be summoned following a request made by the MPs.
“Everyone including party leaders, officials of CAA and representatives of Litro and LAUGFS Gas must be present in Parliament for the special meeting,” he said.
Earlier Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardene requested that a special consultative committee meeting be summoned today.
However, Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa suggested an appointment of a special select committee to probe gas cylinder explosions. “Appointment of a special select committee is a time consuming process let us call for a consultative committee initially,” Mr. Gunawardene said.
