The Chief Jailor of the Welikada Prisons Training School was killed when he was shot at in Ambalangoda this evening, police said.
They said the 44-year-old M.T. Ruwan Thihara, a resident of Ambalangoda, was injured when he was shot at by unidentified gunmen at Kuleegoda Junction at around 6 p.m today.
He succumbed to injuries after he was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital.
The Ambalangoda Police are investigating.
