Event Coordinator Chandimal Jayasingha, model Piumi Hansamali and 21 other people who were placed under quarantine at a government center in Badulla said they will lodge a complaint at the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka against the alleged injustice caused to them after the court had granted them bail for attending a party.
Piumi, Chandimal and the remaining members had been taken to a quarantine center two weeks ago after they attended a birthday party hosted at the Shangri La hotel, during the islandwide travel restriction.
Both Piumi and Chandimal were arrested for breaking quarantine laws but were later released after being granted bail.
However Chandimal, Piumi and the whole lot were directed to quarantine by the Public Health Inspectors after Piumi alleged that Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana was put under the spot in a Hiru television program with presenter Chamuditha Samarawickrama asking if the police were operating under two laws in the country.
Piumi and Chandimal have already lodged a complaint with the CID over contempt of court against Samarawickrama.
Piumi, Chandimal and the group were subject to a PCR test a few days ago and reports which came back today have shown that all have tested negative for the COVID-19. They will be released tomorrow.
Piumi told Daily Mirror that despite receiving many requests for media interviews, she and Chandimal will follow the law and lodge a complaint with the Human Rights Commission.
"We were informed that even after us there were many who were arrested over holding private parties. However, they were all subject to home quarantine. We will follow the legal path and file for action," Piumi said. (JH)

This is justice in LK. Why no action against the hotel for allowing to conduct a party. Where is the one law and one country that was promised. The police is using the to their whims and fancies.
