‘Kudu Ruwan’ arrested over drug trafficking

An accomplice of drug trafficker Ranjith Kumara alias 'Kondaya' was arrested for allegedly involved in drug trafficking network.

Police said the suspect, Ruwan Kumala alias ' Batagama Kudu Ruwan" was arrested with 1.5 grammes of heroin and 10 pounds of gold jewelry at Kandewatta in Ja-Ela.

Investigation revealed that there had been over Rs 55 million transactions in the suspect’s bank account within seven months.

It was reported that the suspect was engaged in drug trafficking in Kandana and Ja-Ela areas. He was operated by Kondaya, who is currently at the Boossa prison.

Police said investigations are underway over three houses which were registered under the names of the suspect's relatives.

The suspect was to be detained for further questioning after being produced in courts. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
