The thermal power plants of the Kelanitissa Power Station has come to a complete halt due to not receiving fuel for its electricity generation, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Additional General Manager and media spokesman Andrew Navamani said.

He said the power station was shut down after 12.30 p.m today.

The required fuel stocks are on the way, and it will be at least 5.00 p.m when fuel reaches through the pipelines from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).

As a result of the plant coming to a standstill, several areas are currently experiencing power outages. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
