The islandwide power outage is not the result of sabotage but of natural occurrences, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Workers' Union said.

They said two coal power plants in Norochcholai had tripped and all power generations had come to a standstill.

However, one coal power plant was under repair.

"The electricity generators at Sapugaskanda were also tripped off. The fuel association of the CEB is administering the situation.," they said.

The whole power supply system in the country has come to a standstill. The whole power generation system in the country is not working now, the union added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Colombo should have separate electric power system as it is Commercial Capital. It should be kept as a superior one. Because power cut here will put all Sri Lanka on shame by other countries.

We should trust the JVP trade union. They have not done any sabotage acts in the past as well.
