Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) Director General to launch an immediate inquiry over dumping of fuel into the Diyawanna Oya.
The Minister also requested to submit a report to him as he received information regarding a fuel tank floating in the Diyawanna Oya.
He said the incident was reported about two days ago with some photographs as proof to the incident.
However, the photographs show a large layer of oil floating towards the Diyawanna Oya.
Therefore, the Minister instructed the officials to look into whether this act was committed by an individual, an institution or a group. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
