Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka today said that he is ready to accept presidency if the majority members in Parliament elect him to the post.

"I have been asked to contest for presidency by some sections of MPs including a group from SLPP. Therefore, I will accept the post if I am elected," the former Army Commander told a media briefing today.

Asked whether he had informed his leader Sajith Premadasa, Field Marshal Fonseka said he has not. "I don't have to tell the leader about my personal discussions," he said.

Also he told the Protestor groups that they should not be in a hurry to handover the state buildings which are held by them.(Yohan Perera)
