Former top cop and crime expert Retd. DIG Priyantha Jayakody yesterday said the killing of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen has been an unsolved mystery to date, and it is high time the perpetrators should be brought to book, even after 10 years of his murder.
Taking part in a protest march held at the ‘GotaGoGama’ last evening to commemorate the 10th death anniversary of Sri Lankan rugby union player Wasim Thajudeen, who had a tragic end involved with a suspicious motorcar accident, Retd. DIG Jayakody said an impartial probe should be commenced now.
“Although, Wasim Thajudeen’s death was reported as a motorcar accident, in the beginning, there were many allegations and suspicions that lead to the case to be classified as an unsolved mystery to date,” the retired Deputy Inspector General of Police said.
He said at least now justice should be meted out regarding this killing to uphold the law and order in the country.
Several hundred persons including the family members and friends of Wasim Thajudeen took part in the protest march that demanded justice for their deceased relative. (Kurulu Koojana Kariyakarawana)

Totally agree. His body was even exhumed but nothing came out of those so-called investigations. Justice has to be meted out for this killing, along with so many other killings as well! Even if the murderers escape justice in this world, their conscience will prick and haunt them forever and they will pay for these crimes one day!
