A committee headed by Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was appointed to look into the incidents that took place in the Parliament Chamber and the lobby on December 03 and 04, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene announced today.
The Speaker said Chamal Rajapaksa, Bandula Gunawardene, Vasudewa Nanayakkara, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Gayantha Karunathilake, Rauf Hakeem, Ranjith Maddumabandara, Vijitha Herath and M.A. Sumanthiran have been appointed to function as the members of the Committee.
He said the committee was expected to look into the incidents that took place in the Parliament Chamber and the lobby on December 03 and 04 and recommend actions to be taken with regard to the incident and prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
The Speaker said all steps have been taken to ensure security of all parliamentarians. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
