Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala ordered the CID to probe the complaint of Government Intelligence unit head Suresh Salay against Rev.fr Cyril Gamini and some others over remarks made on him during an online briefing addressing the international community alleging that the government Intelligence Unit had funded and aided and abetted Thawheed Jamath leader Zaharan Hashim.
The Magistrate made this direction to the CID considering the submissions made by the CID to the Magistrate.
The CID also told the Magistrate that the fabricated statements were made deliberately to tarnish the image of the complainant and to unease the government. The complainant Salay had alleged that this had put him and his family's lives in danger.(T.FAROOK THAJUDEEN)
