Eight state-of-the-art CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) Screening Vehicles (mobile labs) worth Rs. 660 million and donated by China were commissioned in the affected areas, the Chinese Embassy tweeted.
They were handed over to be used in the affected areas of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Ampara, Kurunegala, Matale and Badulla.

These devises are invented by physicists and then mass produced in factories by engineers and technicians. Doctors play no part whatsoever in the making of these devices, in fact the doctors don’t have a clue how this machine works. But once these devices are handed over to the hospitals with instructions on how to use them, the doctors take over. Patients see the doctors using these machines and attribute the usefulness of the machine to the doctors, exactly the same way the doctors get the credit for prescribing medicines made by scientists in the pharmaceutical companies. So the false reputation of the doctors as “experts” keep growing and we focus our resources in producing more and more doctors. A person can be trained to do what the doctors do with just a two year diploma, the five year medical degree is an artificial setup. Our focus should be on training more SCIENTISTS who have a bachelor degree and a PhD in either Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

What you say maybe partially true. Whilst it is true that we need to empower the medical technicians and scientist and encourage more people to persue it, please keep in mind. It is the doctor who decides which patient needs which test. Like wise the results won’t mean anything, unless the doctor tallies it with the clinical picture of a patient. I understand you may have some rough patch with doctors. But it’s a bit harsh to say Medical degree is an “artificial setup. “. Besides every single component of the health care team is essential for the functioning of the health sector. From the junior staff to the , nurses , ecg technician , lab technicians , midwives junior doctors and consultants.
