With the sudden increase of the price of wheat flour by Rs.35 from yesterday, All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association (ACBOA) President N.K. Jayawardene today said that they have come to a situation where they are unable to continue with their business.
The main wheat flour companies have increased the flour prices of wheat flour by Rs. 35 per kg.
"The sudden increase the price of wheat flour is pretty unusual, and there is no one to look into these matters. A situation has arisen where there is no active government in this country," he said.
As a result and as bakery owners, we are debating whether to close our bakery business or expand our confectionery offerings, he lamented. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
