Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa today decided to close all provincial schools in the Kegalle District for three days from tomorrow.
The Governor's office media unit said the decision was taken following the COVID control committee meeting held at the Governor's office this morning.
"Teachers who travel to the Sabaragamuwa provincial border schools from high-risk areas such as North Western Province and Western Province were considered as a risk of spreading the virus among schools. Therefore, the decision was taken to close the schools," the media unit said.
It also said the number of students attending the schools was lesser than 50% was also taken into consideration to close the schools, the Governor's office asserted. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
