A pilot project to administer Pfizer vaccines to students sitting for the A/L examination and for those who have previously sat will be held on October 15 in all Colombo education zones, Education Ministry additional Secretary (School Affairs) L.M.G. Dharmasena said.
Addressing the media at the Health Promotions bureau today, he said the vaccination programme will start from Friday (15) in all Colombo education zones.
Accordingly, the programme is scheduled to be run in Homagama, Colombo, Jayewardenepura and Piliyandala education zones.
This programme will run in line with the school's opening on October 21 and following a special announcement by the President and Prime Minister, he said.
"The students should reach the closest vaccination centre after inquiring from the relevant school principals and it is compulsory to bring their National Identity Card (NIC). We have decided to administer the vaccine in a common vaccination centre, considering the schools with the lowest number of students," Mr. Dharmasena said.
He requested the children and their parents to visit the Education Ministry official website for this announcement for more details. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
