Jaffna Stallions, one of the franchise teams of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), is likely to challenge its termination, it is reliably learnt.

It has been widely reported in the media that the LPL organizers have decided to terminate the ownerships of  three teams; namely, Jaffna Stallions, Colombo Kings and Dambulla Viiking.

According to the highly placed source privy to the development, Jaffna Stallions is the first team coming forward to challenge its termination. The owners are believed to have hired the services of an international law firm outside Sri Lanka to send a legal notice to the IPG.

It may be recalled here that Jaffna Stallions won the first edition of the LPL last year.

Sources close to the latest development also said, “If the termination letter, which has no sustainable reason for termination, is revoked, the team owners are still fully committed to participate in this year's tournament. For the sake of glory to the nation and its fans, the owners are keen to have its team play in the coming season.”
