Three suspects, including a woman have been arrested in connection with their involvement with drug trafficking network, operated from Dubai, UAE, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said the suspects were arrested on Saturday by the Kelaniya Division Crimes Unit Officers.
“The suspects were identified as the local agents of the drug traffickers who are operating from Dubai. They had been allegedly involved in transporting and distributing drugs, which are smuggled into the country from Dubai, through sea routes,” the DIG said. The police will analyse the bank accounts to identify the monetary transactions carried out between Sri Lanka and UAE by the suspects and the trafficker,” he said. The arrested would be detained for further investigation under the direction of the Kelaniya SSP.
