Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday confirmed that MP Ranjan Ramanayake had not handed over any CDs containing phone conversations to Parliament.

Responding to a question raised by Government MP Nimal Lansa in Parliament, the Speaker said Mr Ramanayake had handed over the CDs while the Secretary General of the House had provided a receipt together with a note.

Mr Lansa warned that Mr Ramanayake might use the receipt given to him to prove his activity in courts.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed Parliament yesterday that he had spoken to MP Ranjan Ramanayake on a few occasions, but he had no idea whether Mr Ramanayake had recorded those phone conversations.

The Speaker said this in response to a question asked by government MP Nimal Lansa that the CDs were taken away from Parliament because of the phone conversations which Mr Ramanayake had with the Speaker.
