Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday announced the names of the new members who were appointed to two main Parliamentary Committees; the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee On Public Accounts (COPA). UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake who is presently in remand prison has also been appointed as a member of the COPE representing the opposition.
Accordingly, Ministers Anura Priyadharashana Yapa, Susil Premajayantha, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Jayantha Samaraweera, Mohan Priyadarshana De Silva, MPs Rauff Hakeem, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Harsha de Silva, Ajith P. Perera, Sriyani Wijewickrama, Ranjan Ramanayake, Ashok Abeysinghe, Sunil Handunnetti, Mavai S. Senathirajah, D. V. Chanaka and Sujeewa Senasinghe were appointed to COPE.
Eran Wickramaratne, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Nalinda Jayatissa are notable omissions from the COPE. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe is a new member who has been included in the committee.
Ministers Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Douglas Devananda,Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Duminda Dissanayake, Rohitha Abeygunawardana, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Shehan Semasinghe, Chandima Weerakkody and MPs Udaya Gammanpila, Palitha Range Bandara, Niroshan Perera, Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana, Buddhika Pathirana, S Sritharan, Nalinda Jayatissa and Wijepala Hettiarachchi have been appointed to COPA.
