Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to investigate and inquire into the Easter Sunday terror attacks will commence its commission’s proceedings today (Oct 31), Secretary to the Commission H.M.B.P. Herath informed Daily Mirror yesterday.
The five-member committee will be chaired by Court of Appeal Judge Janak de Silva while the other members are CoA Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne, retired CoA Judge Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa, Retired HC Judge Bandula Kumara Atapattu and former Justice Ministry Secretary W.M.M. Adhikari. Secretary to the PCoI also informed that DIG Mahesh Senaratne will testify before the Commission today.
He also said that the Commission has been assigned with investigating and inquiring into the terror attacks as well as the counter ethnic violence which happened around the country during that time.
Secretary to the Commission said that the hearing of the evidence will begin today at 2.00 pm and the sessions will be opened to the general public and journalists.
The Commission has been asked to submit the first Interim Report within three months, a subsequent Interim Report in two months and the final Report within six months, the PCoI Secretary told Daily Mirror.
