While claiming to not look at ministers with anger and hatred, State Minister Dr Nalaka Godahewa yesterday said that ministers don’t always have as many luxury vehicles as some may presume.
In response to a question about the government move to import luxury vehicles for parliamentarians, Dr. Godahewa said that he was using his vehicle and two other private vehicles for official purposes although he is entitled to get three official vehicles. “As a minister I have to travel some 100 kilomtres per day. Although I am entitled to have three vehicles, currently I am using my vehicle and two other private vehicles and those two vehicles are under repair at the garage,” he said. He also said that whenever a minister is appointed, he only gets old vehicles, sometimes more than 10 years old. “No one knows the real situation of ministers,” he added.
